To get accurate temperature measurements from the Accushield thermometer, please read and follow the best practices below:

  • ACCLIMATE THE THERMOMETER

After turning on your kiosk with the thermometer connected, the thermometer needs 30 minutes to acclimate to the ambient temperature in the room. You may see extreme temperatures if the thermometer is used during this time.

  • POINT AWAY FROM LIGHT & HEAT SOURCES

The thermometer should be pointed away from ceiling lights, windows, glass doors, mirrors, HVAC vents, fans, and other hot or cold surfaces. These can impact the accuracy of the thermometer.

  • LOOK AT THE LENS

Have the individual stand 1-2 feet away from the thermometer. The reflection of their face should be completely visible and centered on the round glass lens of the thermometer (see picture below).  If an inaccurately high temperature is returned, have the individual move closer to the thermometer and try again.
